WORK IN PROGRESS MINISTRIES
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for a man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
James 1:19-21

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

For 2008 we are studying the entire Bible.

Favor
Genesis 39 - Genesis 41

  • Favor aint fair!
  • Favor shouldn't make you feel ashamed.
  • When you set your life up according to the Word of God, favor follows you.
  • The favor of God is with you if you line your life up.
Favor is friendly of kind
The blessing (favor) of the Lord maketh rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. -Proverbs 10:22
Favor is unfair partiality
God controls the heart...read the book of Psalms
Favor is to be for
If God be for you who can be against you
Favor is approving you
If God endorses you, he's approving you
Favor is upon you as long as you operate in Godly wisdom

As a born again believer you are in a life that isn't acceptable to many. Endure, fight the good fight, don't give in. -See 1 Timothy 6:12

Where love is, God is...God is love -1 John 4:8
Where there is love, there's a healthy atmosphere. See 1 John 4:16

It's not what you look at it's what you see.

It's the storms of life that are necessary for God's will in your life. Count it all joy! James 1:2

Through it all remember Romans 8:28 is working in your life.

The favor on Joseph didn't prohibit him from the trails.

You are highly favored amongst men and women because God chose you.

It is your gift that will make room for you! Tap into your purpose!

You are going through the pain of coming into your purpose, of who you really are.

Genesis 39
Joseph is now in prison with 2 men just like Jesus was on the cross with two men.

False accusation will come, don't think it's strange.
When they do reflect on Matthew 5:11-12 and see how blessed you are.

Potiphar instantly because of the accusation put Joseph in prison, just like Pilate put Jesus in prison.

Potiphar didn't believe his wife because of her character just like Pilate didn't believe the accusations against Jesus.

The Egyptians were blessed because of Joseph's favor!

Be diligent in all you do...see Proverbs 22:29
Be diligent on your job no matter what your position is and watch God move in your life.

When Potiphar's wife caught Joseph by the cloak and told him to come to bed with her, he didn't even say anything, he fled. Don't give Satan any room!
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

God showed Joseph favor in prison.
Praise God in your storm and your mess...praise confuses the enemy.

Genesis 40
The cupbearer and the baker are assigned to Joseph.
Joseph is a dreamer.
The cupbearer and the baker didn't have a dream until they were around Joseph.
Link up with individuals who will stimulate you
People are hungry when they're not fed.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they will be filled. -Matthew 5:6

2 is the number of witness. When you dream the same dream twice, it's something God is about to do.

Genesis 41
The cupbearer may have forgotten Joseph but God didn't forget. God hasn't forgotten you!
Your name in this walk, means everything!
Genesis 41:9-13: Because of Joseph's demeanor, he received these accolades.
Operate in Christ at all times!

Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dream; because of his trials and his growth in wisdom. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. -Psalm 37:23-26

Spirituality
 Luke 1:26-38

What is it I believe? Why is it I believe?
What are the benefits of my beliefs?

Who Is Christ? Luke 1:26-38
  • Great
  • Son of God
  • Healer
  • Son of the Highest
  • Redeemer
  • Deliverer
  • The image of the invisible God
  • The adhesive that hold's everything together
  • Colossians 1:18 head of the body, the church: the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that all things he might have the supremacy (Greatest in power, authority, and rank)
Type and Shadow
Jesus means Joshua in greek.
Joshua took Israel to the promiseland.
Joshua also means savior.
Jesus, the savior who will bring his people into eternity.

Encouragement
Mary questioned because she was a virgin.
Mary asked in amazement. Zechariah asked this same thing but he asked out of disbelief.
The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Don't look at your inability (virgin status), the Holy Spirit will overshadow you.

How do I respond since I know?
John 3:1-21 Romans 9:30 - 10:1-21
  • John 3:1-21 If you live by the truth, you'll see things plainly
  • Romans 10:9 Confess with your moth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
What About My Sins? Mark 15:1-15   Ephesians 2:1-10
  • The cross paid your debt. Jesus paid the price. Just don't purposely keep sinning.
  • Ephesians 2:1-10 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit of who is now at work in those who disobedient.
  • Be careful making frequent mention of "if I was who I used to be..." because this takes you back!
How can I be sure? John 20:24-31
  • John 20:24-31 = God knows our thoughts before we think them.
  • 1 John 5:1-21 = The commandments are not burdensome, they're for our protection.
Where your inability ends, God's ability kicks in; He will make provisions.

Dear children, keep yourselves from idols
1 John 5:21

Spirituality Part II

Now that I'm a Christian...
What should I do now?
What does it cost?
I'm under new managment...
What is the eternal value of the sacrifices we make

What should I do now? Luke 19:1-10
During this time, Jesus is coming through Jericho on his way to the cross.

This is also the same time frame as Jesus saw blind Bartimaeus.

In this passage of scripture, Zacchaeus came down from the sycamore-fig tree immediately out of obedience!

Zacchaeus' inheritance didn't get him salvation, his repentance did.

True repentance will make you get your wrongs right.

Zacchaeus ran ahead of the crowd and climbed the sycamore-fig tree, to get in a place to see Jesus.

Don't let anything keep you from getting to Jesus!

What does it cost? Matthew 16:13-28
There is no victory without conflict.
1. There will be suffering. Even at the hands of religious
    people. See v. 21
2. Stumbling blocks will come your way. See v. 23
3. You must deny yourself. See v. 24
4. If you try to keep your old life you'll lose life. See v. 25

When you give up your life, you find the life God purposed for you to live.

The benefit: The Father is going to come in his glory to give you your reward.

Under New Management... Acts 9:1-19; Romans 8:1-17
God in his infinite wisdom always makes provisions.

He knocked Saul off his course.

Start looking for the individuals God has sent to pick you back up.

You're no longer you're own. You have a new proprietor.

Every time you wake me up and every time I don't do what I want to do lets me know that I belong to you.
-Pastor Guy E. Jones, Sr.

The mind of sinful man is death, but the controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.
Romans 8:6

A Lukewarm Christian
  • Thinks they're a Christian because their parents had them baptized as a child.
  • A person baptized as a child or an adult, who believes they're saved but yet they haven't accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
  • Falsely believes his beliefs.
  • ONLY (nothing more than) a church member
Godlessnes in the Last Days - 2 Timothy 3:1-6
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

Encouragement

Water will not wash away your sins.

Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God, unless he is born again." -John 3:3

You're membership doesn't get you Heaven, you must be born again.

Man has put you on the books,
but your name has not been put on The Book.
-Pastor Guy E. Jones, Sr.

If you hold to my teaching, you are really (wholeheartedly) my disciples.
John 8:31

 REMEMBER:
It's better to trust in the Lord, than man...
man will fail you.
Jesus Christ Never Fails you!

Spirituality III

What we're studying now in Spirituality is a part of Genesis...God is giving us topics to what He did in the beginning.

Eternal Value Luke 16:19-31
The rich man dressed in purple (royalty) lived in luxury every day.
Lazarus the beggar was covered in sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table.

Don't look at where you're at,
it's about where you're going
The rich man died and was buried.
Eternity in hell in torment, with the ability to see
    Heaven unable to crossover.
Lazarus died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side.
As born again believers you won't see spiritual death
when you die in the natural.

The eternal value is being with God when it's over!

Kingdom Priorities
Make God who is the King your #1 priority!
For your citizenship to work for your benefit in the kingdom, God has to be your #1 priority.
In the Kingdom of Great Britain it was custom for children to wear short britches, long white socks, shirt and tie.
It would be hard for someone not accustomed to this requirement to make the adjustment under new leadership.
But you have to adhere to the rules of the kingdom.
The greatest secret in living effectively on earth is in understanding the principle and power of priority.

Everyday life is pretty hectic because...
We haven't grasped effective time management.

How we use our time everyday eventually defines our lives!

Time is not to be wasted! We must operate on God's time!

Time/Priority is...
The essence of life.
Putting 1st things 1st.
Establishing the most important thing.
Prioritizing your time with your needed accomplishments.
Primary focus.

When you fail to prioritize time...
Life will cause you to be caught up in the less valuable.
The little foxes ruin the vineyards. -Song of Solomon 2:15
Procrastination set in.
Cause you to abuse your gift.

If priority is the essence of life, we need to know what our priorities are.

Most people are driven by incorrect priorities.
  • Dr. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of needs included
  • Water
  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Shelter/Housing
  • Security/Protection
  • Self Actualization
  • Significance
    • Many have made life about these things.
    • You are more important than your needs.
    • Worry is rehearsing the future, over and over, which you have no control.
Kingdom priorities are important so that we don't have to stay here, focused on man's needs. God is more important than this!
Read Matthews 6:25-34 to see why!

Your #1 Priority as a Christian is...Matthew 6:33
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God!

Spirituality - Quiet Time

What we're studying now in Spirituality is a part of Genesis...God is giving us topics to what He did in the beginning.

Maturing in Christ Focusing on Quiet Time
Mark 1:29-38
  • Life is fast paced
  • It is important to find quiet/intimate time with God
Very early in the morning, before daylight, Jesus got up, went to a solitary place, where he prayed. -Mark 1:35

We have to discipline our flesh to rise early in the morning to seek God.

The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. -Isaiah 50:4

The God of increase never leads you to get rid of something of value unless he has a blessing to replace it.

Giving to the Needy -Matthew 6:1-2
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. -v.3-4

The key to answered prayer is your secret communion (quiet time) with God

Hypocrite comes from the Greek word for actor, someone who puts on plays.

Prayer -Matthew 6:5-13
But when you pray, go into your tamion; Greek word for: room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. -v.6

Jesus never prayed this prayer
Jesus taught this prayer to his disciples

ESTEEM GOD OUR FATHER
Our Father which art in heaven, -esteem him acknowledging that God is our Father.
Hallowed be thy name. -worship God's name
Thy kingdom come -pray for an advancement of God's Kingdom
Thy will be done in earth, -acknowledge that God knows what is best
as it is in heaven. -we want to experience heave right here on earth
YOUR OWN NEEDS
Give us this day our daily bread - our dependence on God, his word, his will, his way - your substance for the day
Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. -the wrongs you have done, not your sins because your sins are forgiven through accepting Jesus Christ!

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen

Note: it is not forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us as many of us have been taught down through the years. Forgiveness of trespasses comes after the prayer has ended in the Bible.

Your #1 Priority as a Christian is...Matthew 6:33
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God!

Put on the full Armor of God (Ephesians 6: 11)
Your battle is not against human beings
It's against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm
