Lesson taught by Pastor Guy E. Jones, Sr.
We have often heard that God has caused us to be the head and not the tail, and that is very true, but in order for that to occur, there is a condition set by God.
Ingredient #1 is keeping God’s commandments
Prosperity is connected with knowing the word of God.
Deuteronomy 28:13 (KJV) says, “And the Lord shall make thee the head, and the tail; and thou shalt be above only and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.”
It is important to know God’s word, the Lord makes it clear to Joshua. Meditating and being a doer of the word leads to prosperity and good success. Joshua 1:8 (KJV) “The book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
It is important for the people of “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do”.
Ingredient #2 is Knowledge.
Knowledge is the accumulation of facts.
We must understand that prosperity is not just money. Wealth comes in more ways than one. The Hebrew word for wealth is “Chavill” which means resources, goods and riches. Often times, resources can be better than money. The fruit we bear is linked to our prosperity.
Psalm 1:3(KJV) states “And he shall be like a tree that is planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Rain is prosperity.
Leviticus 26:3(KJV) "If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments” Leviticus 26: 4(KJV)”Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase and the trees of the field shall yield their increase"
Seeking is prosperity.
We don’t need to seek after people, places or things, all we need to seek after is God, and his righteousness and all of those other things will be add unto us. Matthew 6:33
Ingredient #3 is Wisdom.
Wisdom is the applications of facts.
As born again believers we should be like Solomon. In 2Chronicles 1:7-12, God appears unto Solomon. God told Solomon to ask what he shall give him. In verse 10, Solomon asks for wisdom and knowledge. In verse 11 God honors that Solomon didn’t ask for riches, wealth or honor. Verse 12 tells that wisdom and knowledge was granted to him.
Before we make decisions whether they be minor or small we should pray and ask God. .Judges 18:5(KJV) “ And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.”
Ingredient #4 is Understanding.
Understanding is the Arrangement of facts
The first fact that should be arranged first in our lives is never try to be successful and exclude God. Deuteronomy 8:18(KJV) says “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
The bible is made up of many facts concerning prosperity, but in order to apply those facts to our lives, we must have proper understanding. It is a though trying to hook up a computer. You can have all the parts but without knowing where to plug in certain plugs or wires, your computer will never work. It is the same with the word, we can know scripture by scripture but without knowing how to arrange or interpret them properly, we won’t be able to be as effective and affective as we should be according to God’s will.
